Lochboisdale Harbour provides regionally strategic, world class facilities for the growing tourist industry, our fishing fleet and aquaculture industry. The project included the building of the new harbour, 52 berth pontoons, an 80m quayside, 10m slipway, working area, crane, shower facilities and WiFi. Fuel will be available in the coming months. It is an ideal port of entry for tourists to see the islands or just enjoy the recreational sailing facilities.
The development of the harbour was backed by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Highland and Island Enterprise, the Scottish Government and the Big Lottery Fund. The harbour also offers a commercial area providing opportunities for support engineering, light industries and maritime services.
We are keen to meet you, welcome you and exceed your aspirations as one of the sailors, golfers, sporting and cultural parties who visit our islands.
Lochboisdale Harbour is owned and managed by Lochboisdale Development Ltd (LDL), part of the Stòras Uibhist group of companies and is managed in accordance with the LDL Articles of Association. Lochboisdale Development Ltd was established as the Statutory Harbour Authority for Lochboisdale and Gasay in March 2016, through a Harbour Empowerment Order, granted by the Scottish Ministers.
In addition to the development of Lochboisdale Harbour, Storas Uibhist undertook extensive regeneration works on the quayside in Lochboisdale Village. This work was funded by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (CnES) and the Coastal Communities Fund, and it was supported by HIE and the Lochboisdale Amenity Trust.
What was previously the fishing pier has been transformed in to a beautiful garden and recreation Gateway for residents and visitors and is used to host community events.
The garden also presents an attractive entryway for visitors coming off the ferry or who have anchored at the marina.
Work continues to improve the facilities in Lochboisdale. LDL is investigating the best options to exploit the pristine deep waters on the south side of the harbour and the added value facilities that can be provided for Mariners.
